Get Your Nutrition Right

Physical health affects your cognitive performance. What you put into your body fuels your brain, muscles, and everything else you need throughout the day. If you’re putting the right foods into your body, getting proper vitamins, drinking a lot of water, etc., you’re going to remember things more easily and have a better memory overall. Eat foods that are high in vitamin A, get a lot of protein, and stay away from harmful foods full of sugar or useless carbohydrates that weigh on your brainpower.

Clear Your Mind with Walks

People have a hard time remembering things when their minds are cluttering with millions of things they have to do like chores, meetings, and other tasks that keep you busy. It’s a lot to ask of your mind to manage all of that and quickly recall items you want to remember. Clearing your mind is a great way to free up excess brain power that’s ready to work on your memory. A great way to clear your mind is to take a long daily walk. Don’t listen to any music or podcast, but rather let your mind and the thoughts inside tumble around until they figure themselves out. You’re exercising your brain, which is a lot like a muscle. The more you work it out, the more tasks it will be able to handle. If you neglect it, it’s going to start slowly and work in unreliable fits.

Oxytocin has long been tied to cognitive performance. The Oxytocin peptide has been tested in clinical research done on mice that indicates the control group that received Oxytocin exhibited higher levels of cognitive performance. The thinking is that Oxytocin causes more even levels of hormones and neuron development in the prefrontal cortex.

Avoid Stress

To keep your cognitive performance at a high level, one thing you should do is to avoid stress. Stressing about money, your spouse, the kids, work, or whatever else works you up will only make your memory worse. People process thoughts and perform at worse levels when they are stressed. There is, of course, sometimes only so much you can do to remove stress from your life. Spend some time looking at what gets you going and what can be eliminated to relieve stress. Your memory and your overall health will improve.
